Explores gender integration in India's disaster policies, suggesting improved vulnerability response.
The National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) 2019 of the Indian government, which was recently changed, is the subject of this research paper’s critical examination. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015–2030) serves as the foundation for this study, which explores how well the NDMP responds to the particular vulnerabilities and needs of disaster-affected women. The research examines how much the NDMP incorporates gender concerns, environmental justice, and empowerment methods in disaster preparedness, response, and mitigation initiatives by using a gendered lens. The findings provide information on how to connect national policy with international frameworks and add to the conversation on gender-inclusive disaster governance. This study emphasizes the necessity of making policy suggestions that support the substantive integration of women's issues, encouraging a thorough and equitable approach to disaster management. This study promotes an inclusive strategy that acknowledges and addresses the unique vulnerabilities and strengths of women within the broader framework of disaster risk reduction and management
