Randomized trial analyzes electromagnetic design feasibility of permanent magnet vernier motors, suggesting improvement strategies.
Permanent magnet vernier motors have broad application prospects due to the advantages of high torque density and low torque ripple. This paper mainly focuses on the electromagnetic design process of the PMVM‐RDT by the selection of the number of phases, the selection of slot–pole combination, the selection of winding distribution type, the number of phases, and the selection of winding distribution types. The inductance parameters are analyzed by the winding function method (WFM), and the results are compared with those of the finite element method to verify the accuracy of the analysis. Finally, a prototype is manufactured according to the design parameters, and an experimental platform is built to analyze the winding distribution type by measuring the Back electromotive force to verify the feasibility of the electromagnetic design.
