Abstract The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of web-based pathology modules and virtual slides in teaching oral pathology to third-year undergraduate dental students at the College of Dental Medicine, Rangsit University. Virtual slides and web-based learning modules of selected oral and maxillofacial diseases were created. Students were randomly allocated into three study groups based on their pretest scores. After completing each module, post-test was administered. Pre-test and post-test scores were compared between groups. In addition, all students completed a satisfaction survey. A total of 119 dental students participated in the study. Significant improvement between pre-test and post-test scores was observed in all groups. The majority of the participants preferred virtual slides over conventional glass slides. High satisfaction with the virtual slides and the oral pathology modules was observed. The incorporation of virtual slides and web-based learning modules for oral pathology learning in undergraduate study is effective and well accepted. This development could be utilized to improve the efficacy of oral pathology teaching, ultimately leading to more understanding, enhanced basic knowledge, and improved clinical skills for dental students and future dentists.
