Bibliometric analysis reveals themes of well-being and ethics in religiosity, suggesting future research directions.
This integrated bibliometric-thematic approach assessed the growing body of knowledge on extrinsic and intrinsic religiosity, uncovering three major themes: well-being, consumer ethics, and sustainability attitudes. Further, the study integrates Allport’s religious orientation theory with the theory of social identity, while providing a conceptual framework and a proposition. The bibliometric analysis quantitatively assessed 210 Scopus-indexed research articles, mapping the growth of the research field, emerging trends and intellectual structure, whereas thematic analysis uncovers basic themes, niche themes, motor themes, emerging/declining themes and high-density and centrality themes, while identifying marginalised themes for scholarly attention and offers future research direction, such as cross-cultural, longitudinal studies specific to sectors.
