Urgent SAVE surgery resolves DIC triggered by a massive thrombus in a giant LV pseudoaneurysm.
Case Report (n=1)
No
This case demonstrates that a massive thrombus within a left ventricular pseudoaneurysm can cause severe DIC, which can be successfully treated with urgent surgical resection and ventricular reconstruction.
May raise suspicion for DIC from LV pseudoaneurysm thrombus post-MI; hypothesis-generating for surgical indications in coagulopathy.

Matsumoto et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and giant left ventricular pseudoaneurysm (n=1). Urgent SAVE (Septal Anterior Ventricular Exclusion) surgery was evaluated on Improvement of DIC and patient survival. Urgent SAVE surgery successfully treated a rare case of disseminated intravascular coagulation caused by a massive thrombus within a giant left ventricular pseudoaneurysm.
