An established procedure isolates pure mitochondria from soybean seeds, suggesting a reliable method for mitochondrial research.
A procedure for isolating high pure mitochondria from soybean (Glycine max) seeds by discontinuous Percoll density gradient centrifugation was established. The preparation contains more than 97% mitochondria as intact organelles with no detectable cytosol, peroxisomes and chlorophyll contamination. The mitochondria are stable at 0-4℃ for at least 2 hours.
