Examines compressive strength improvements in cement composites with volcanic sand, suggesting enhanced material efficiency.
The paper examines composite binders based on Portland cement and volcanic sand, subjected to mechanical activation in a vibrating mill. Rational grinding parameters (10, 30, and 50 minutes) and filler content (10-30%) were determined. It was found that under optimal conditions, the specific surface area reaches 731.2 m2/kg, and the compressive strength increases to 90.34 MPa after 28 days, which is 77.8% higher than that of commercial cement. Laser granulometry and X-ray phase analysis revealed the hardening mechanisms associated with the amorphization of the structure, a decrease in the average diameter of the particles and the formation of additional hydrosilicate phases. The possibility of saving Portland cement up to 30% without loss of strength characteristics is shown
