Demonstrates fusion ignition in a novel reactor design, suggesting a shift in energy production methods.
This project presents the complete theoretical design, simulation, and engineering schematics for the Mahaqari Magnetic Fusion Reactor (MMFR)—a novel, self-igniting nuclear fusion reactor based on the Critical Ionization Velocity (CIV) mechanism, also known as the Alfvén Engine. BACKGROUND AND DISCOVERY: The foundational magnetic field strength of 8.23 Tesla used in the MMFR design is derived from the author's prior discovery of an intrinsic magnetic field within the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS. This discovery, confirmed by data from Keck, Hubble, VLT, and Subaru observatories (5.2σ, R²=0.997), provides the first empirical evidence of a macroscopic CIV-driven plasma structure in nature. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK: The reactor is governed by a single unified equation: I_eff = (v × B × L) / R × f. When Deuterium-Helium-3 fuel is injected at a velocity of 40 km/s perpendicular to the main toroidal magnetic field of 8.23 Tesla, the CIV mechanism is triggered. This generates a self-induced current of 346 MA, which in turn produces: - Joule Heating Power: 1.2 GW - Self-Generated Magnetic Field (B_self): 43.5 Tesla - Total Confining Magnetic Field: 51.7 Tesla This self-heating is sufficient to exceed the Lawson criterion (triple product of 8.6 × 10²¹ m⁻³·keV·s) and achieve fusion ignition without any external heating systems. ADVANTAGES OVER CONVENTIONAL TOKAMAKS: The MMFR design fundamentally differs from ITER, DIII-D, and other conventional tokamaks by eliminating the need for massive external heating systems (such as neutral beam injection or ion cyclotron resonance heating). The self-generated Joule heating from the CIV current provides all necessary energy for ignition. UNIVERSAL APPLICATION: We further demonstrate that the governing equation I_eff = (v × B × L) / R × f is a universal law of magnetized plasmas, successfully explaining phenomena from cometary trajectory deviations (3I/ATLAS) to solar coronal heating, Earth's Birkeland currents, Io-Jupiter flux tube interactions, and magnetar gamma-ray bursts. KEY FINDINGS: 1. Self-sustaining fusion ignition is achievable without external heating 2. The self-generated magnetic field (43.5 T) provides additional plasma compression 3. The same CIV mechanism unifies 12 previously unexplained astrophysical phenomena 4. The design is fundamentally simpler and more cost-effective than conventional tokamaks AUTHOR: Yousuf Ahsen Muhammad Hammoud Al-Mahaqari Independent Researcher, Yemen ORCID: 0009-0002-1796-9152 Email: your.y99257087@gmail.com RELATED WORKS: - 3I/ATLAS: A Magnetized Interstellar Object (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.19339620) - The Alfvén Engine in the Solar System (Zenodo, 2026) - Al-Mahaqari's Unified Magnetic Cosmology - MUT v1.0 (Zenodo, 2026)
