Investigates inoculation effects in Tamarix chinensis, suggesting a new host-parasite study system.
To develop an in vitro inoculation system of Tamarix chinensis with seeds of Cistanche tubulosa, we removed the pericarp before seeds were inoculated on roots of tube seedlings and seedling plants of T. chinensis. Investigations of inoculation were carried out by stereo microscopy, and observations of infection involved use of the whole clearing method. C. tubulosa-T. chinensis inoculation complex can be established through culture of seeds of C. tubulosa together with radicated T. chinensis, which may offer an effective experimental system for the study of host-parasite interactions.
