Alder Archaeology were approached by the current owner to produce an historic building record of two structures at Calvine Farm Steading, Calvine, Pitlochry, (site code BO05) to satisfy planning constraints in advance of refurbishment and adaptation into a dwelling and holiday letting. The survey was undertaken on 8th August 2022. Calvine Farm Steading is comprised of 2 buildings; The northernmost is a U shaped single storey stone-built stable/byre and barn and the southerly is a rectangular single storey store and log store with a ruined stone lean-to to its S elevation. The buildings are arranged around a small open courtyard surfaced with loose stone and rubble, and are surrounded by loose soil and rubble landscaping to the N, S and W, and gravel driveway to the E. Both buildings appear to date from the early 19th Century or shortly before and have undergone no significant changes in layout since construction. Doors, windows, roofs and interior floors have been renewed to suit subtle changes in use, and services such as electrics and mains water have been added and modernised.
