Descriptive research examines how digital platforms enhance identity affirmation in transgender individuals, highlighting their empowering role.
This study examines the role of digital platforms in supporting, shaping, and strengthening the identity development of transgender individuals. Social media and online communities have emerged as critical spaces for self-expression, community building, emotional support, and advocacy, enabling transgender people to affirm their identities and connect with peers beyond geographical boundaries. Using a descriptive research design, data were collected from 60 transgender participants through a structured questionnaire focusing on digital support, representation, and identity affirmation. Descriptive statistics revealed consistently high mean scores across all dimensions, indicating strong agreement that digital platforms foster belongingness, emotional well-being, accurate representation, and advocacy opportunities. Chi-square analyses were conducted to assess associations between socio-demographic variables (age, gender identity, education, occupation, income, family type, and residential area) and overall digital support and identity affirmation. The results showed no statistically significant associations, suggesting that the positive impact of digital engagement is consistent across demographic groups. The findings highlight the inclusive and empowering nature of digital platforms in promoting transgender well-being, identity validation, and social connectedness
