Monograph develops a new algebraic system of hierarchical complex numbers, suggesting new analytical pathways.
This monograph develops a unified algebraic framework that generalizes the real numbers, complex numbers, and bicomplex numbers into a recursively defined 2ⁿ-component system called Kaisofukusosu. Each hierarchical complex number is defined by the self-similar structure \[ T = (T_1, T_2), \] where T₁ and T₂ are hierarchical complex numbers of one lower level. All algebraic operations—addition, mixed multiplication, elementwise multiplication, and conjugation—are expressed by level-independent formulas derived from this recursive definition. A key result of this work is that the conjugation operation does not produce a real-valued norm when n ≥ 2. Instead, the product \[ T T̄ \] reduces the hierarchical level, yielding a map \[ T T̄ : Z_n → Zₙ₋₁. \] We refer to this phenomenon as the hierarchical degeneracy map. Thus, hierarchical complex numbers do not form a normed algebra except at level $n=1$, corresponding to the classical complex numbers. This monograph establishes Kaisofukusosu as a purely algebraic system, independent of matrix representations or digit structures. The bicomplex numbers and the OS-model appear as special cases within the hierarchical framework, but they are not required for the general theory. The results presented here provide the foundational algebraic structure for future analytical developments, including the reconstruction of analysis on hierarchical complex systems.
