Resource cataloging linear settlements in metropolitan areas, highlighting their locations and structures.
This resource, Deliverable 3.1 of Work Package 3 (WP3) of the emc2 project, represents a catalogue of linear settlements for the Nice (France), Lille (France), Massa-Viareggio-Pisa (Italy) and Vienna (Austria) Metropolitan areas. The catalogue contains a detailed description of the methodology used to identify linear settlements on the basis of historical and contemporary map data, as well as the results of this analysis on the four metropolitan areas. Maps are produced at different scales (metropolitan scale and linear settlement scale); they visualize the location of linear settlements within the metropolitan areas, identify the location of the main street within the individual settlements, and depict their built structure. This resource was produced within the emc2 project, which is funded by ANR (France, grant ANR-23-DUTP-0003), FFG (Austria, grant FO999905461), MUR (Italy, grant 2024/0017648) and Vinnova (Sweden, grant 2023-02581) under the Driving Urban Transition Partnership, which has been co-funded by the European Commission.
