This resource presents morphogenetic diagrams mapping linear settlements and their catchment areas in Vienna, indicating urban development and historical context.
This resource, Deliverable 3.2 of Work Package 3 (WP3) of the emc2 project, presents morphogenetic diagrams of linear settlements in Vienna. A series of ten cartographical representations of linear settlements in Vienna have been produced. These representations are based on historical cartographical representations and aerial photographs. Depending on the availability of the base data, up to six different time frames between the 1820s and the 2020s are documented. The cartographic representations delineate the 15-minute catchment area surrounding the respective settlement centres and incorporate the classification of edifices referring to historical farmstead typologies characteristic of linear settlements. The document provides a comprehensive account of the data sources utilised and the selection of linear settlements for the analysis (selection criteria: degree of transformation, location relative to the main street, topography). It also encompasses a detailed description of the map production process and the maps for all 10 settlements. This resource was produced within the emc2 project, which is funded by ANR (France, grant ANR-23-DUTP-0003), FFG (Austria, grant FO999905461), MUR (Italy, grant 2024/0017648) and Vinnova (Sweden, grant 2023-02581) under the Driving Urban Transition Partnership, which has been co-funded by the European Commission.
