The rapid expansion of digital communication technologies has significantly transformed the educational and social experiences of adolescents in India. Social media platforms such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram have become integral components of students’ daily lives. The present study investigates the influence of social media habits on academic outcomes among higher secondary students in Purba Bardhaman District, West Bengal. A descriptive survey method was adopted to examine the relationship between patterns of social media usage and students’ academic achievement, study habits, concentration, classroom participation, and time management. The study included 420 higher secondary students selected through stratified random sampling from government and private schools located in both rural and urban regions of the district. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and academic performance records.
