Designing an automatic guided vehicle system is a complex task. Besides hardware considerations, the design engineer should assess the impacts on facilities layout, material procurement policy, and production policy. In this paper we present some analysis techniques and a methodological framework for specifying the operational characteristics of an automatic guided vehicle system.
