This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview Harmohanjit (Harman) Singh Pandher is an educator, author and has been teaching Punjabi at Beaver Creek Elementary School since 2005. He has authored Punjabi children's books such as "Gurpreet Goes to Gurdwara" and "Once Upon the Golden Temple". This interview with Harmohanjit (Harman) Singh Pandher is divided into four segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Harmohanjit discusses his methods of teaching, the important role that teachers can play, his motivation behind creating textual resources for children, the need for bilingual texts, and the efforts of his organization, SACH, which supports the community in various ways, such as providing counseling, addressing homelessness, and overcoming language barriers.
