Pan-chloroplast analysis investigates genetic variation in Hordeum species, implying evolutionary insights.
Chloroplast genomes are widely used in phylogenetic and evolutionary studies due to their conserved structure and maternal inheritance. However, a comprehensive pan-chloroplast analysis across the genus Hordeum remains lacking. In this study, we assembled and annotated 43 chloroplast genomes representing 12 Hordeum species, together with 18 chloroplast genomes from other Poaceae species, to investigate structural variation, repeat sequences, codon usage, RNA editing, selective pressure, and nucleotide diversity.
