Archaeological evaluation reveals no significant features in the Newt Receptor Area, suggesting limits of human activity.
The fieldwork comprised the excavation of eight trenches (Trenches 12 to 19), in the locations shown on the attached plan. The trenches were located to assess the previously identified geophysical anomalies and measured 50m in length, by 1.8m in width. Trenches were set out on OS National Grid (NGR) co-ordinates using Leica GPS and surveyed in accordance with CA Technical Manual 4 Survey Manual. An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in April 2019 in the Newt Receptor Area of land at Cribbs Causeway, Cribbs Causeway, South Gloucestershire. A total of eight trenches were excavated. No features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed during the evaluation and no artefactual material was recovered.
