Critical view highlights AECC's challenges in achieving objectives, suggesting necessary changes and broader participation.
To date, the AECC has not yet been successful in achieving its objectives but then it is too early to expect success. Further, the AECC is a continuing initiative and opportunities to change its approach continue to exist. I hope the AECC will act to broaden its academic base, I hope it will cease the research bashing, and I hope the AECC might consider adding a seed money program and a site visit policy if it continues its grant program. Concurrently, we need the active participation of some of those who have yet to enter the debate. My views identify what I believe are mistakes on the part of those who have chosen to step forward and participate in AECC efforts. Actually, these individuals should also be applauded for stepping forward and making the effort. If the AECC turns out to do less than expected, perhaps some of the blame should fall upon those of us who did not step forward to at least join in the debate.
