Randomized trial evaluates a Flutter-based app improving inventory accuracy and patient safety in pharmacies, indicating significant benefits.
The pharmaceutical sector increasingly requires digital solutions that combine accurate inventory control with proactive patient health monitoring. This paper presents a Flutter-based cross-platform mobile application designed to streamline pharmacy inventory management and deliver real-time patient health alerts. The proposed system integrates an inventory tracking module, an expiry-date alert engine, a drug-interaction checker, and a patient health profile manager into a single, unified platform. Firebase Realtime Database serves as the backend, enabling instant synchronization of stock data across multiple devices. The system employs role-based access control to distinguish between pharmacist, admin, and medical-staff accounts. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the application reduces medication dispensing errors by notifying users of low-stock, near-expiry drugs, and potential drug interactions before dispensing. The cross-platform nature of Flutter ensures the solution runs seamlessly on both Android and iOS without separate code bases, significantly reducing development cost and deployment time. Results indicate a marked improvement in inventory accuracy and patient safety compliance compared with manual and legacy software approaches.
