Case report demonstrates homeopathic treatment improving autism symptoms in a young boy, suggesting potential benefits.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. While conventional therapies aim to manage symptoms, individualized homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient's constitutional characteristics and the totality of symptoms. This case report describes the management of a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with ASD who presented with poor eye contact, delayed speech, hypersensitivity to noise, repetitive behaviors, emotional sensitivity, and a chilly constitution with profuse perspiration of palms and soles. Baseline assessment using the Childhood Autism Rating Scale–Second Edition (CARS-2) showed a score of 41.5, indicating severe autism. Based on individualized symptom analysis and repertorial evaluation, Silicea was selected as the constitutional remedy and administered in a single dose of 200C potency. Over a 12-month follow-up period, progressive improvements were observed in sleep, sensory tolerance, speech development, and social interaction. Reassessment using CARS-2 demonstrated a reduction of the score to 25.5, indicating substantial clinical improvement. This case highlights the potential role of individualized homeopathic treatment as a complementary approach in the management of ASD. Although the findings cannot be generalized from a single case, the observed clinical improvement supported by standardized assessment tools suggests that further systematic research in this area may be warranted.
