This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. Sarbdeep Kaur, the subject of this interview, is an author and educator. She was born in Punjab and moved to Canada with her family at the age of 14. As of the time of the interview, Sarbdeep teaches Punjabi at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School and has authored two children's books, "Let's Learn Gurmukhi through Animals" and "Baani da Parivaar." This interview with Sarbdeep Kaur is divided into three segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview Sarbdeep talks about her experience teaching Punjabi at school, racism at work, support from her colleagues, the significance of creating an inclusive environment, and the inspiration behind her books.
