This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Parabjot Singh, was born in Vancouver and grew up in Surrey, BC. Singh is a writer in Punjabi language, and has pursued a career in teaching the language. She published a bilingual children's book based on her childhood pet bird, merging her passion for writing and teaching to engage students in learning Punjabi. This interview with Parabjot Singh is divided into two segments and includes one promotional video. In the interview, Parabjot Singh discusses her relationship with Punjabi language, the motivation to connect with her roots, her teaching experience, and methods of effective teaching.
