Highlighting healthcare discrimination isn’t a new concept: First Nations Peoples have long experienced the harms and barriers that colonialism brings. The PHAA’s media release does, however, arrive at a critical moment: amid persistent global threats to Indigenous rights, we continue to see First Nations-led research offering innovative, practical ways to improve health and wellbeing for our communities (PHAA 2026).
