Survey uncovers factors affecting school attendance in individuals with cerebral palsy, emphasizing inclusion challenges.
People with cerebral palsy (CP) have the right to study in regular schools, guaranteed by laws and inclusion policies in Brazil. But are children, adolescents, and young adults with CP actually attending school? And what may reduce their participation? To answer these questions, we carried out this study. The research was also motivated by mothers of children with CP, who are part of the Public Involvement Group of the Brazilian Cerebral Palsy Registry (BrCPR). Together with the researchers, they highlighted the importance of better understanding this reality, because they live and closely follow the daily challenges of school inclusion.
