Review paper analyzes the integration of IoT and AI in pneumatic systems, highlighting challenges and future directions.
Pneumatic systems are widely used in industrial automation due to their simplicity, robustness, and cost-effectiveness. However, conventional pneumatic systems lack intelligent monitoring, predictive maintenance capability, and integrated safety intelligence. With the advancement of Industry 4.0 technologies, significant research has been conducted on integrating IoT, PLC-based control, artificial intelligence (AI), and sensor networks into pneumatic systems. This review paper presents a comprehensive analysis of intelligent pneumatic automation systems with integrated industrial safety and monitoring functions. The study synthesizes recent research on condition monitoring, anomaly detection, system control, and predictive maintenance. It also highlights system architectures, enabling technologies, challenges, and future research directions for smart pneumatic automation systems.
