This article examines how search engine visibility affects AI citability in accommodation businesses, highlighting important nuances.
This article examines the relationship between presence in traditional search engines (SERP) and citability in generative artificial intelligence engines (ENDEX) in the hospitality sector. The hypothesis that the two dimensions are equivalent — visibility in Google implies visibility in AIs — is tested empirically with 23 accommodation establishments in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. The point-biserial correlation between SERP and ENDEX is r=−0.067 (p=0.752), non-significant. The type of digital asset moderates the relationship: own websites with robust positioning show a weak positive association; intermediary portals show dissociation. Digital asset is not a universal moderating variable — it is the actual independent variable.
