Isotopic shifts in the transitions 3d8 (3F)4p–3d7 4s2 of Ni II and 3d6 (5D)4p–3d5 4s2 of Fe II have been investigated by means of Fourier transform spectra from nickel–argon and iron–neon hollow–cathode lamps. After subtraction of the normal mass shifts from the observed transition shifts, the residual transition shifts between even isotopes are of the order of 100 mK.
