Review highlights that graphene enhances soil conditions and promotes plant growth.
Agriculture is the foundation of citizen economy and a strategic industry that supports modernization construction. However, current issues such as soil degradation and pollution, as well as soil salinization, have seriously affected agricultural planting and production, becoming urgent problems that need to be solved worldwide. Graphene can significantly improve the soil's nutrient retention performance, reduce nutrient loss, and become a new material in the eyes of many researchers to alleviate soil problems. Currently, a large amount of experimental research has been conducted to confirm that adding graphene to soil can reduce nutrient loss, promote fertility and plant growth. By summarizing, this review provides an up-to-date overview of the research focused on graphene and graphene-based materials in soil cultivation, highlighting the advantages of graphene in promoting plant growth and improving soil conditions, with special attention to the effects of graphene on different plants and their impact mechanisms.
