Performance analysis evaluates a high-capacity WDM FSO link's reliability in various weather conditions, indicating its potential for broadband services.
In this study, the design and performance analysis of the high-capacity WDM 120Gbps system in the FSO link have been discussed to assess its performance at varying atmospheric conditions. The system has used 6 channels of CWDM and 6 channels of DWDM, both operating at a speed of 10 Gbps; wavelengths of 1420 - 1520 nm (CWDM spacing 20 nm) and 1550 nm - 1554 nm (DWDM spacing 0.8 nm) have been used, respectively. Performance simulation in the different atmospheric conditions of very clear, clear sky, light haze, and heavy haze with attenuation of a range of 0.15-2.62 dB/km has been done to see how effective the system performs. In all the cases, extremely low bit error rates and efficient transmission distances have been reported up to 12,000 m under different atmospheric conditions. In addition, the integrity of the system performance has been analyzed by eye diagrams. It is clearly seen that these systems are capable of transmitting reliable data and hence would be promising candidates for future broadband services.
