Purpose This opinion piece describes how Come Singing (CS), a small voluntary organisation run by and for older people, was motivated to continue working during the COVID-19 pandemic to sustain its dementia singing community and navigated a successful return to face-to-face activity in 2020. Design/methodology/approach The opinion piece presents CS as a case study. Findings The case study of CS exemplifies how supporting dementia singing groups can offer a positive and joyful volunteering opportunity for many older people. Originality/value It is an original, authentic personal account, informing policy and practice of dementia care.
