This article reports a novel dermoscopic pattern in atrophoderma of Pasini and Pierini, highlighting its diagnostic significance in skin of color.
This article reports a specific dermoscopic pattern in atrophoderma of Pasini and Pierini (APP) characterized by a peripheral striated pigmentary network transitioning to a central attenuated reticulate pattern with perifollicular hypopigmentation, including dermal collagen homogenization. The distinct dermoscopic findings aid in differentiating APP from morphea and extragenital lichen sclerosus, particularly in individuals with skin of color, resembling an “Indian elm leaf” or the transverse section of an “areca nut.” Histopathology demonstrated nonspecific features consistent with APP.
