Case report demonstrates successful conservative management of high-grade renal injuries in pediatric patients, suggesting effective treatment strategies.
Renal injury is relatively uncommon among pediatric patients who incur blunt abdominal trauma. Noninvasive management is recommended for hemodynamically stable patients with a renal injury; however, there is limited data on the use of endourologic procedures in the management of pediatric renal trauma. We present a pediatric patient with a grade 4 renal laceration treated with a ureteral stent and percutaneous drain placement, supporting the use of minimally invasive strategies in select pediatric patients with high-grade renal injuries.
