Review examines synthetic biology progress and challenges in various applications and technologies.
This review systematically examines the current research status and application progress of synthetic biology technology, and dissects its core technology system and typical application scenarios. At the technical level, the evolution of key directions such as DNA synthesis, genome construction, gene circuit design and biosensors is briefly described; at the application level, representative practices of the technology in areas such as drug production, medical diagnosis and treatment, industrial manufacturing and food nutrition are temporarily introduced. Through a critical review of the literature, it is noted that current research still faces challenges in terms of insufficient methodological validation and limited industrialization. Finally, the future direction of synthetic biology in interdisciplinary integration, intelligent design, and addressing global challenges is envisioned, emphasizing the need to strengthen original technology research and development, improve the industrial ecosystem and governance structure to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the field.
