Demonstrates mechanoadaptation protecting tumor cells from shear-induced death, suggesting a new metastasis mechanism.
Mechanoadaptation via Myosin Cytoplasmic Redistribution This illustration depicts the mechanoadaptation and self-protection mechanism of circulating tumor cells during hematogenous metastasis. Under harsh shearing, these non-adherent tumor cells redistribute myosin into cytoplasm to disrupt the interaction of actin with myosin and reduce force transmission and mechanosensitivity, enabling them to evade shear-induced death and eventually generate distal metastases.
