Demonstrates near-perfect matchings and independence formulas in bilinear congruence graphs, indicating potential for perfect matchings in even cases.
We study matching and covering parameters of the bilinear congruence graph ๐ฎ๐ over the ring โค๐. The graph has vertex set โค๐๐, and two distinct vertices (๐,๐) and (๐,๐) are adjacent whenever ๐๐โก๐๐ (๐ฆ๐จ๐ ๐). This adjacency is a determinant-zero condition, so it describes modular dependence between ordered pairs rather than the usual product-zero relation from zero-divisor graphs. We prove that, for every odd integer ๐โฅ๐, the map (๐,๐)โฆ(โ๐,โ๐) gives a near-perfect matching of ๐ฎ๐. Consequently, ๐(๐บ๐)=๐2โ12,๐(๐บ๐)=๐2+12.For an odd prime ๐, the proportionality class decomposition gives ๐ถ(๐ฎ๐)=๐+๐,๐(๐ฎ๐)=๐๐โ๐โ๐.For distinct primes ๐ and ๐, we prove the exact independence formula ๐ผ(๐บ๐๐)=(๐+1)(๐+1),and hence ๐(๐บ๐๐)=๐2๐2โ(๐+1)(๐+1).In the case ๐=๐๐, where ๐ is an odd prime, we construct a perfect matching and deduce ๐(๐บ2๐)=๐(๐บ2๐)=2๐2.Finally, computations for ๐โค๐โค๐๐ support the study and suggest that ๐ฎ๐ may have a perfect matching for every even ๐โฅ๐.
