Assesses MTPA control strategy for dual-induction motors, indicating improved performance and operating range.
This paper addresses the problem of optimal steady state control of Single-Inverter Dual-Induction Motor (SIDIM) systems by proposing a novel strategy based on the master-slave framework. Leveraging the intrinsic degree of freedom of master–slave control, the proposed method tunes the master direct-axis current to minimize the total stator copper losses of the dual-motor system under constraints, including magnetic saturation. This MTPA-like strategy is compared against a state-of-the-art single-motor MTPA strategy, originally formulated for standard induction drives. Extensive numerical simulations demonstrate the existence of an optimal point, validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, and highlight its advantages in terms of performance and admissible operating domain. Final remarks are drawn on optimal master selection and possible extensions to dynamic analysis and multi-motor architectures.
