Research explores libraries' roles in promoting peace and education while facing significant challenges.
Globalization has transformed contemporary societies by accelerating communication, technological innovation, and cultural exchange. Despite these advantages, globalization has also deepened social inequalities, increased cultural conflicts, and contributed to widespread misinformation. In this complex global landscape, libraries have emerged as vital institutions that promote education, peace, social harmony, cultural preservation, and informed citizenship. Far beyond their traditional function as book repositories, libraries today serve as community learning centers, digital literacy hubs, democratic spaces, and agents of peace. This research article explores the evolving role of libraries as promoters of peace and education in a globalized world. It analyzes their contributions to formal education, digital inclusion, multicultural understanding, social cohesion, peace education, community empowerment, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also examines the challenges libraries face, such as limited funding, technological barriers, political pressures, and professional training gaps. The paper concludes with strategic recommendations to strengthen libraries as agents of social transformation and global harmony.
