Randomized trial records Pseudaulacaspis cockerelli in ornamental plants, suggesting a new pest threat in Uzbekistan.
Pseudaulacaspis cockerelli (Cooley, 1897) (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Diaspididae) is recorded for the first time from Uzbekistan. This scale insect was detected on ornamental Phoenix roebelenii (Arecaceae) cultivated under greenhouse conditions in Andijan City, Andijan Region, in the East of Uzbekistan close to the border with Kyrgyzstan, during a survey conducted in February 2025. Of 20 examined plants, 10 were found to be infested, with a mean population density across multiple leaves of 20 individuals per cm 2 (range 12–28). Adult female morphology is briefly described based on slide‐mounted specimens. The species is assessed as a potential phytosanitary concern for ornamental plants in the region, and regular monitoring of nurseries and greenhouses is recommended. This is also the first report of a species from the genus Pseudaulacaspis from Uzbekistan.
