Demonstrates enhanced data security in Hadoop, suggesting a robust solution against MitM attacks.
This study addresses the lack of fine-grained security and provenance in HDFS data transport by proposing a blockchain-based hybrid encryption framework. The system architecture couples Hyperledger Fabric for immutable logging with a three-tier cryptographic protocol: AES for high-speed symmetric encryption of large payloads, CP-ABE for policy-driven key encapsulation, and RSA for digital signatures. This combination guarantees confidentiality through attribute policies and integrity through on-chain hash verification. Implementation was carried out on a Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) Sandbox testbed. Performance benchmarking across file sizes of 100 MB to 1 GB reveals that the security overhead is manageable within enterprise constraints. The proposed framework effectively mitigates Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks and unauthorized access, offering a cryptographically sound alternative to traditional perimeter-based security in Big Data architectures.
