Demonstrates prevention of superior vena cava injuries in transvenous lead extraction, indicating a shift from rescue to prophylactic measures.
Transvenous lead extraction (TLE) is linked to rare but potentially life-threatening vascular complications, especially involving the superior vena cava (SVC). Since its introduction in 2016, the Bridge Occlusion Balloon (BOB) has become an essential tool for emergency management of SVC injuries, enabling quick hemodynamic stabilisation and acting as a bridge to surgical repair.1–4 Although complications such as thrombosis can occur, these are generally uncommon with proper use.5
