Abstract

Abstract This paper examines the role the media plays in education especially in the context of inclusive learning and special education in Africa. It also explores the concept of media in relation to the teaching – learning process in education. The paper gleans the Elihu Katz’s tenets of uses and gratification theory to accentuate what the media renders on the smooth conduct of inclusive learning or special education. The paper further identifies some of the challenges encountered in the process of implementation and execution of these programmes and seeks to rekindle the renewed governments’ interest at various levels with prestigious plans to continue to alleviate the surges of the disabled and the challenged in our society in order to equal their counterparts anywhere in the globe. The paper argues that personal readiness and remarkable principles of government with the aid of media are requisite to the intellectual packaging and reformation of learners in inclusive learning and special education.
