Compares outcomes of on-demand versus programmed relaparotomy in generalized peritonitis, suggesting tailored approaches may benefit patients.
The choice of tactics for repeat surgical interventions in generalizedperitonitis remains a subject of debate. The aim of this study was to compare theefficacy of "on-demand" relaparotomy versus programmed (scheduled) relaparotomyin patients with generalized peritonitis. Clinical outcomes, complication rates, andmortality were analyzed. It was determined that an individualized approach using"on-demand" relaparotomy, supported by dynamic clinical and laboratory monitoring, allows for a reduction in surgical trauma and the frequency of postoperativecomplications without increasing mortality.
