This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the INSIGHT Program in reducing recidivism among sexual offenders against young girls.
Pilot clinical trial with 19 participants in Portugal assigned to INSIGHT plus treatment as usual (TAU) or TAU alone.
25-session individual intervention focusing on attitudes toward child sexual abuse and victim empathy.
Assessment of proximal outcomes using the Reliable Change Index at baseline and post-intervention.
Participants receiving INSIGHT plus TAU showed more significant improvements in empathy toward victims and reduced interpersonal problems.
The intervention indicated potential to address some risk factors associated with sexual violence.
Highlighted a need for further examination of techniques used in addressing early maladaptive schemas (EMSs).

Sousa et al. (2026) studied this question.
