Finite element modeling investigates the hot pressing behavior of superduplex steel pipes, suggesting optimal processing conditions.
A comprehensive study of the behavior of superduplex steel during hot pressing of pipes has been conducted, based on plastometric study and finite element modeling. Stress–strain curves and plasticity diagrams have been obtained over a range of technologically applicable temperatures and strain rates. Modeling the pressing process using the QForm-3D software package allowed one to identify potential metal failure zones when assessing the stress state index. Calculating the ductility resource using the Kolmogorov criterion allowed for the development of scientifically sound hot pressing process modes, based on the condition that the critical degree of plastic deformation is not exceeded while ensuring the required surface quality of the finished tubular product.
