Study identifies three new meroterpenoids with antiproliferative and antifungal activity against specific fungi, suggesting potential applications.
In this study, three new aromatic meroterpenoids, named soloniols A − C (1 − 3), together with three known steroidal metabolites (4 − 6), were separated from the rice-fermented mycelia of the fungus Pseudophaeolus soloniensis (Dubois) Spirin & B. Rivoire. Elucidation of structures was performed using 1D/2D NMR experiments, along with HR-ESI-MS measurements. In vitro bioassays revealed that compounds 1 − 3 demonstrated notable antiproliferative effects on human hepatoma HepG2 cells, which showed IC50 values spanning from 8.6 μM to 18.6 μM; notably, compound 1 also exhibited antifungal activity against three selected phytopathogenic fungi, achieving inhibition rates of 40.7 to 59.8% when tested at 200 μg/mL.
