Prototype vector network analyzer measures transmission coefficients in two-port devices, indicating improved accuracy through a new arithmetic method.
In this letter, we show measurement results of a prototype low-cost vector network analyzer (VNA) using a seven-port correlator (SPC) in the 4 to 18 GHz band. We developed most components ourselves for the VNA. In addition, we study an improved arithmetic method for measuring magnitude without modifying the hardware architecture. This method can improve the accuracy of the transmission coefficients for two-port devices.
