Randomized trial investigates hot compression effects on 6082 aluminium alloy, suggesting optimal processing conditions.
The hot compression behaviour and microstructural evolution of 6082 aluminium alloy during integrated solution-forging processing were systematically investigated via isothermal compression tests at 400-535°C and strain rates of 0.1-10 s-1. A strain-compensated Arrhenius-type constitutive model and processing maps based on the dynamic material model (DMM) were established. Results show that flow stress decreases with increasing temperature and decreasing strain rate. The optimal processing window is identified at 435-535°C and 0.1-1 s-1. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis reveals that nanoscale Al12(Fe,Mn)3Si dispersoids pin dislocations and suppress boundary migration, while uniformly distributed β″ precipitates along the [001]Al direction enhance precipitation strengthening. The integrated process promotes refined microstructures and improved deformation stability, providing guidance for optimising thermomechanical processing of 6082 aluminium alloy.
