Study studied electrical conduction in polymer composites, indicating properties vary with carbon content.
Composite films of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and carbon black (CB) were produced via solution casting, and the electrical conduction processes in direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) were studied, as well as their electrical behavior as a function of temperature. It was observed that these materials exhibit field-conduction processes, which are prominent at volume fractions close to 1.5% CB. For volume fractions greater than or equal to 4.0% CB, the electrical conduction process shows characteristics of geometric contact.
